- Navy:
- Cretan Central Committee cruisers, 1866-69
- Career:
During the Cretan insurrection against the Turkish Empire (May 1866/January 1869), a Cretan Central Committee was created in Athens to support the rebellion. It armed some steamers, mostly loaned from the Greek Steamship Company, to deliver weapons, supplies and volunteers to the island. In all, five cruisers served as blockade-runners (Hydra, Panhellenion, Arkadion, Crete and Enossis). The Ottoman fleet chased and captured the Arkadion north of Elphanosia (20 August 1867) and blockaded the Enossis at Syra (14 December 1868 - 21 January 1869) achieving her disarmament.
